Winner at HazardEx Awards!
We are thrilled to announce that Raytec has won the Net Zero Innovation Award at the HazardEx Awards 2025. This award recognises ground-breaking innovations for hazardous environments that help reduce emissions and carbon footprints.
Our SPARTAN luminaires played a key role in this achievement, having been installed on Sea Change, the world’s first hydrogen-powered passenger ferry. Operating in the California Bay Area, Sea Change is a 70-foot, zero-emission, electric-drive ferry powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The project was led by award-winning shipbuilder All American Marine (AAM) in collaboration with vessel owner SWITCH Maritime.
Working alongside Michael Marrington of IndEx, Hazardous Area Ex Professionals, Raytec’s SPARTAN Flood and Bulkhead luminaires were chosen to illuminate the deck areas and hydrogen storage room—delivering safe, reliable lighting in a challenging environment.
