We are proud to announce that our SPARTAN Linear range has recently achieved an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), reinforcing our dedication to sustainability and transparency.
What is EPD
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a verified, third-party assessment of a product’s environmental impact throughout its life cycle- from raw material sourcing and manufacturing to operation and end-of-life disposal. EPDs provide clear, reliable, and comparable data, allowing customers to make informed decisions about the sustainability of the products they choose.
What Products are EPD Certified
Our SPARTAN & WARRIOR Linear range, known for its durability and performance, in hazardous areas has successfully met the rigorous criteria required for EPD certification. This certification ensures that every product delivers both high quality and a reduced environmental footprint.
What Does the EPD Report Show?
- Raytec Utilises Local Supply Chain: Raytec has long been committed to sourcing locally wherever possible, and this approach is reflected in the EPD results. We scored positively for Transport (A2) – the stage measuring emissions from transporting raw materials to the factory. The A2 result represents less than 0.4% of the total Global Warming Potential (GWP), demonstrating that transport has a minimal impact on the overall carbon footprint of our products.
- Raytec is UK Manufactured: The EPD results also highlight the benefits of Raytec’s UK-based, single-site manufacturing model. By producing all our products in the UK and prioritising a local supply chain, we minimise transportation distances and reduce associated emissions. This combination contributes directly to the strong A2 performance and the overall low environmental impact of the SPARTAN Linear range.
- Raytec Understands the Importance of Materials Used: The EPD clearly shows that raw materials and manufacturing processes have the greatest influence on SPARTAN Linear’s total environmental footprint. This reinforces the importance of selecting sustainable materials. SPARTAN Linear’s aluminium enclosure, a material that is infinitely recyclable at the end of its life, significantly lowers its carbon impact compared to alternatives such as GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic). At the A1 (Raw Materials) stage, SPARTAN Linear produces 97.2 kg CO₂e, reflecting the environmental advantages of using aluminium and underlining Raytec’s ongoing commitment to designing products with sustainability in mind.
