We are thrilled to announce that we have been shortlisted in two categories for the Insider Made in the North East Awards 2024, recognising our commitment to product innovation and sustainability.
Award 1 – Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer Award
This award is for the company that has demonstrated the greatest commitment through its products and processes to forge a sustainable future for its company and region.
Raytec is a dedicated and committed LED lighting manufacturer with a drive for sustainability. During 2023, we have embraced company-wide sustainability by setting up a Sustainable Planet Team (SPT). We proudly became Carbon Neutral for the first time by purchasing 175 tonnes of Carbon Credits for an afforestation project on degraded grasslands in Uruguay ‘El Arriero’. We also reinvested back into the North-East of England by purchasing 80 tonnes of Carbon Credits for a reforestation scheme in Widdrington, Northumberland.
In 2024, we will be introducing returnable packaging with some of our suppliers to reduce waste. We also have two projects running to reduce single-use plastics currently used as lens protectors on our LED lighting products. We will also be installing a Voltage Optimiser to further reduce electricity consumption.
This recognition reaffirms our commitment to driving positive environmental change within our industry and beyond.
Award 2 – Manufacturing Innovation Award
This award is for the manufacturing company that has generated a substantial financial return and impact on a regional/national/international level from an innovative product or process designed and manufactured in their region.
Introducing the SPARTAN Linear High Output range has enhanced Raytec’s position in the market by providing a step-change in how Linear luminaires can be deployed in applications that have been designated as a Zone 1/21 or Zone 2/22 hazardous area. Offering twice the lumen output compared to Raytec’s standard Linear products, reaching an impressive 14,000 lumens, Linear High Output reduces the number of fittings required across an installation, allowing end users to significantly reduce costs.
The new Linear Output also breaks the mould of conventional bay-style fittings by providing a cost-effective alternative for applications that traditionally utilise bay-style fittings. Linear HO utilises optics, high-efficiency LEDs, and cutting-edge driver technology, providing end-users with greater flexibility in the types of application in which Linear luminaires can be installed.
Our commitment to the North-East of England extends beyond Raytec as we are proud to foster economic growth and sustainability with our local suppliers and community of businesses, sourcing 80% within the North-East.
