What is defined as Critical Infrastructure?
Critical Infrastructure are those facilities, networks, sites, systems, information and people that are essential for a country to
function and provides the basis for everyday life. This term also covers sites and organisations which are not critical to the
maintenance of essential services, but which require protection as a result of their potential danger to the public. Examples
include nuclear power and chemical processing along with water treatment, electricity generation and public health.

Types of Light
Infra-Red:
Raytec offer semi covert (850nm, slight red glow), covert (940nm, no red glow) and also make custom solutions
to best suit any application. Both covert and semi-covert provide highly even illumination for outstanding night-time
images, with covert providing the added extra of being totally invisible to the human eye.
White-Light:
Our White-Light illuminators provide long range coverage distances and highly even illumination which can
either be used as general area surveillance or as a deterrent. VARIO2 features Raytec’s signature interchangeable lensing
system, angles from 10-120°and advanced security settings.
Hybrid: Our Hybrid illuminators provide an all-in-one solution, combining both Infra-Red and White-Light into a single unit.
Raytec’s Hybrid range is particularly vital to critical infrastructure as its dual purpose and smaller form factor provide
a complete security solution. In Infra-Red mode, lighting can assist CCTV cameras in challenging, low-light conditions
without creating unwanted light pollution. This allows the camera to produce high quality images, which when used
alongside camera analytics, can identify intruders approaching. For a second level of security, the white light portion of
the illuminator can be triggered via motion to turn on as a deterrent.
Flexible Power & Control Options
1. To facilitate installations, Raytec offers a range of input
options:100-230V AC/DC, low voltage 12-24V AC/DC or
PoE powered.
2. IP Controllable – Operate the illuminators from anywhere
on the network 24/7 via the web interface, VMS, or directly
with camera applications. Lighting can be fine-tuned
to achieve the best possible results and easily analyze
the data. For a complete security solution, integrate the
lights with other IP devices such as motion detectors,
PIRs and fence protection systems. This level of deep
integration is a unique performance feature for Raytec,
unmatched anywhere else in the security industry.
Group Control
With the intelligent network capability of the IP range, users can control illuminators either individually or in groups to create
dynamic lighting systems that respond and react to event-based triggers. As an example, white lights around a university
campus will come on automatically at night at 40% to increase visibility and safety. When motion is detected, certain groups
of lights can be boosted to 100% output on-demand and drop back down to 40% when motion is no longer detected.
Product Range
Panoramic – Panoramic LED illuminators are designed for PTZ domes, wide angle and multi-sensor cameras. They provide
powerful 180° illumination to deliver outstanding night-time images at distances of up to 500’+ making them an ideal
choice for critical infrastructure as they will provide a full scope of the scene. This product range is particularly suitable for
applications such as water treatment plants, as these sites tend to cover large outlying areas with unreliable, poor or nonexistent
ambient light.
SPARTAN – As well as being the world leaders in LED lighting for safety and security, Raytec also provide a full SPARTAN range for C1D2 (Class 1, Division 2) Hazardous area environments. All products are C1D2 certified and meet UL/CSA standards along with ATEX and IECEx certifications. SPARTAN products are safe for any environment where there is a risk of an explosion due to gas or dust (such as a nuclear or chemical plant). Featuring a wide operating temperature of -58˚F to 122˚F (-50˚C to 50˚C) and with a lifetime of 10+ years, Raytec’s SPARTAN range will perform without affecting any processes on site.
Design Service
Bring any lighting solution to life with Raytec’s 2D and 3D lighting designs. These visual representations show exactly where
the light is targeting, how the light intensity will decrease and show the effects of the overall design in a more tangible medium.

At Raytec, we’re very proud to say that all our products are designed and manufactured in the UK. The very nature of security
critical applications demands the highest levels of product quality and control so being able to design and manufacture in the
UK is critical to this. Having one central production facility makes quality control easier and ensures that every product meets
the highest standards. On site we also have experts in product design, quality, certification, operations, lighting design, as
well as a full knowledgeable sales team.
In addition, having a stocking warehouse in the USA and sales teams in both North and South
America means prompt delivery of products and easily accessible support. For Raytec, the
Americas is our biggest export in the security division, so having a team who can personally
manage projects is key.
