SPARTAN High Power Flood Zone 2
The new High Power Flood has been designed from the ground up, offering significant improvements over the previous generation. It now shares the same design principles as the wider SPARTAN range, with a focus on being easy to install and maintain. It gives customers the flexibility of a wide range of beam patterns, delivers a significant improvement in performance, and offers enhanced durability. For the environments this product is designed for, this represents a meaningful step forward.

Key Features

Every aspect of the product has been carefully engineered with extensive technical expertise. Below are some of the key features that set the ALL NEW High Power Flood apart and deliver the greatest benefits to our customers.

  • Ease of Maintenance: Maintenance-friendly design is a key consideration across the SPARTAN range, helping ensure lighting installed in hazardous environments is not only reliable, but straightforward to service. This principle was thus also central to the design of the ALL NEW High Power Flood. The range is certified to Ex e (Increased Protection), eliminating the complex flame paths associated with traditional Ex d (flameproof) designs and providing direct access to key components. Front wiring access further simplifies installation and servicing.
The engineering changes have also allowed the new SPARTAN High Power Flood to be certified for IIC gas group as standard, providing a significant upgrade from the previous IIB and IIB+H₂ classifications. This expands the product’s suitability for hazardous area applications and provides greater flexibility across a wider range of potentially explosive gas environments. Together, these features help minimise downtime and make maintenance easier in the field.
  • Multiple Beam Patterns: Getting light to exactly where it is needed is essential for achieving an efficient and effective lighting installation. The ALL NEW High Power Flood offers 10 optic choices in the Zone 1 variant, 12 in Zone 2 and up to 15 in the heavy-industrial variant, providing a wide range of beam patterns to suit different applications. This flexibility allows light to be precisely targeted, improving control, reducing wasted light and potentially reducing the number of luminaires required on site.

  • Robust & Durable: The SPARTAN range has a proven reputation for reliability in demanding environments. The ALL NEW High Power Flood builds on these established design principles while introducing further enhancements for challenging applications. Constructed from marine-grade aluminium, the floodlight is designed to withstand extreme temperatures up to +70°C and demanding operating conditions. It is now available with Raytec’s new CX-rated coating system, which has been certified to CX corrosion class in accordance with ISO 12944-9:201. This system provides enhanced durability in highly corrosive environments.
  • Outstanding Performance: The ALL NEW High Power Flood pairs high output (up to 34,560 lumens in Zone 1, 38,640 in Zone 2 and 44,911 in heavy-industrial) with 20% lower power consumption than the previous Zone 1 variant, a wider choice of optics and a maintenance-friendly design. The result is the right light, in the right place, at a lower running cost.

Other Features

  • Efficacy: The ALL NEW High Power Flood delivers up to 151 lm/W in Zone 1 variants and 168 lm/W in Zone 2 and Heavy-Industrial variants, helping to maximise light output while minimising energy consumption.
  • Proven Design Principles: The floodlight utilises field-proven SPARTAN technology platforms, providing consistency and reliability across the SPARTAN product range while incorporating the latest developments in floodlight performance and design.
  • Easier Installation: Installation has also been considered from the outset. The product has been redesigned to reduce weight by more than 20%, from 23.5 kg in the previous model to just 18.5 kg in the new version. This significant weight reduction makes the unit easier to handle and install, while front access to the wiring terminations provides improved accessibility during installation.

Key Applications

The High Power Flood is suited to a range of large open areas and structures across demanding hazardous and industrial environments, including:

  • Refineries and tank farms: Lighting for tank walls, bunds, pipe racks and other large structures, particularly where light needs to cover significant distances.
  • Oil and gas terminals and processing plants: Lighting for processing areas, pipework, storage areas and access routes across hazardous industrial sites.
  • Marine and offshore: Used on platforms, decks and vessels where lighting equipment is exposed to salt, moisture and corrosive conditions. The CX-rated paint system provides additional protection in these environments.
  • Ports and terminals: Lighting for quaysides, container yards, loading areas and other large open spaces where high-output area lighting is required.
  • Chemical and petrochemical plants: Lighting for large and complex process areas, helping illuminate structures, equipment and access routes across plant layouts.
